After a few weeks of patient care in my clinical rotations, I have some quick updates. I don't have much time for a full post, so I'll edit this a bit later.
So far this semester I have cared for an 11 year old anorexic, a suicidal alcoholic, a deaf woman with auditory hallucinations, a 2 1/2 year old with a brain tumor, and a 16 year old with severe developmental problems and a seizure disorder.
It's been a hell of a semester!
Update: I've seen kids with inoperable brain tumors, kids with some pretty messed up families, an 11 year old anorexic, mental health patients with problems I can't even begin to understand, and one happy new mom. I'm liking the teaching involved in OB - teaching moms how to breastfeed and how often, etc. Pretty crazy stuff considering I don't have kids!! Maybe if/when I do, I'll be a pro!!
